Title: Orbital Ressonance of a Bolide?
Post by APODman on 02/16/14 at 08:45:36

Hello to all,

On 02/12/2014 at 03:50:28 UTC a great and luminous fireball was recorded by two cameras of a network of meteors observers of Brazil.

By triangulating the object was possible to determine its orbit, a possible correlation of the object with the asteroid 1998 DG16 was also found.

Performing some simulations in Gravity Simulator I had the impression that the bolide had an orbital resonance in relation to the Earth.

I would ask colleagues of forum to help in this regard, to check if existed a resonance and, if possible, try to understand why it was "broke"n leading to collision of the object with our planet.

The simulation attached was created using the addon Horizon, except for the bolide (named M20140212_055029) whose data were entered manually

Orbital elements for M20140212_055029:
a: 0.8
q: 0.513
e: 0.320
i: 7.9
node: 323.3
Estimated mass: 28kg

The image of unified orbit generate by the triangulation (in UFOOrbiter):

The movies of capture:

Thanks in advance !!
