Title: How can I start a collapse?
Post by looseskrewz on 04/23/07 at 21:28:31

Is there a way to turn off the automatic orbit function?

I am trying to simulate a particle collapse, but I don't know how to start one.

Easiest way to do this is create a central particle with a mass of 1000 Kg then create the cloud of particles orbiting it, this will lead to a cloud collapse.

I don't want the particles to orbit anything, I just want to place some particles on the screen, and let them collapse upon themselves.

The only thing I can think of for this is to manually create all the particles.

I have yet to come up with a way to do this without using a source particle, at this point I'll wait for an answer from Tony.

I figured it out. Duh...it was easy.

I just made the central particle the same size and mass as all the others....dumb eh :)

I started a sim with 2800 particles - 0.5AU from central particle @ %10 inclination each with a mass of 5 Earth units. +/- 5%....so it's more like a shell of particles.

Then I paused the sim and deleted the central particle just for the hell of it.....just curious to see if more than 1 solar system evolves.
